There is a version of a prayer you stopped praying and neither did you announce that you were done praying. You simply stopped. The request got smaller, quieter, until one day you noticed you were not really saying it anymore. You were going through the motions. Filling in the shape of faith while quietly deciding that this particular thing you are believing God for was beyond reach.
That decision felt like wisdom at the time. It felt like maturity. Like you were finally accepting reality. But what if the ceiling you placed on your situation was never God's ceiling? What if the prayer request you quietly buried was still very much alive in His hands?
"For with God nothing will be impossible." Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
Angel Gabriel spoke those words to a teenage girl who had just been told she was going to carry the Son of God. Mary had not made this request. She had not petitioned heaven with such a bold prayer. She had simply been going about her life and into the middle of her ordinary day, God inserted the impossible. The angel's declaration was not a motivational phrase but a statement of God's nature. He does not operate inside the boundaries of what is humanly achievable. He is not limited by what your situation looks like from the outside, by what the doctors said, by what your bank account reads, by how long this has been going on.
That is not a promise He made only to Mary. That is who God is and who He is does not change depending on the century or the person He is speaking to.
There is a second word worth sitting with. In Jeremiah 32, we see God speaking to a prophet who is locked in prison watching Jerusalem fall apart around him. The city is under siege, the nation is collapsing and in the middle of all of it, God asks Jeremiah to buy a field in a city that is being destroyed. It is one of the strangest instructions in the entire Bible but then God explains Himself.
"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" Jeremiah 32:27 (NKJV)
That question was not a rhetorical one. God was pressing Jeremiah to answer it honestly. Is there anything too hard for Me? Not too hard in theory but too hard in your specific situation. This particular impossibility you are staring at. This precise door that looks permanently closed. Is that too hard for Me?
Jeremiah bought the field. He acted on a promise that made no earthly sense because he believed the answer was no.
You may have been carrying something that has started to feel embarrassing to still believe God for. Maybe it has been two years, or five years, or longer. Maybe people around you have moved on from even asking about it and you have also stopped mentioning it because you do not want to explain why it still has not happened.
That silence can creep into your prayer life without you noticing. You start praying around the thing instead of for it. You say 'if it is your will' not as genuine submission but as a quiet way of giving yourself an exit from the disappointment.
But God has not forgotten the prayer you stopped praying. He did not archive it, neither did He overlook your silence and conclude that the matter was settled. What you carried to Him is still before Him and what you quietly buried is not too hard for Him.
The question He is pressing you with today is the same one He pressed Jeremiah with in a city under siege. Is there anything too hard for Me?
Faith is not only for the moment when things look hopeful. It is most needed in the season when everything around you argues against the promise. Jeremiah did not buy that field because the circumstances made sense. He bought it because he knew who God was, and knowing that was enough.
God is not asking you to pretend you are not tired. He is not asking you to manufacture feelings of confidence you do not have. He is asking you to hold one thing steady in the middle of all of it: the knowledge that impossibility is never His problem. It is always His invitation. He is drawn to the situations that have run out of human options. He is most clearly seen when the evidence has nothing left to offer.
THE CEILING YOU BUILT WAS NEVER HIS.
Whatever you have quietly filed away as too late, too far gone, or too much to ask, God has not filed it. He is the Lord of all flesh. He is not intimidated by your timeline, your history, your track record, or the number of times this has not worked out. He is the God who called something into existence from nothing. He is not slowed down by the version of nothing you are currently looking at.
Bring that sidelined prayer back. Say it out loud again before His presence and mean every word you say. Not because the circumstances have changed, but because your God has not. The same One who spoke to Mary in her ordinary day, who spoke to Jeremiah in a collapsing city, is speaking to you in whatever room you are in right now and what He is saying is the same thing He has always said: with Me, nothing is impossible.
